The ebonized bowls are made by using a natural process to darken wood that still allows a beautiful wood grain to show through. The ebonizing process reacts with the tannins in the wood to create bowls that are dark brown to black and 100% food safe. The ebonized bowls are most frequently made from oak wood which is a sought after hardwood known for being strong, heavy and straight-grained.
