This Fall a unique exhibit at 48 Brattle St. in Cambridge MA recalls the iconic modern home furnishings store, Design Research. Located at the site of the original Design Research flagship store in Harvard Square, the exhibit features a broad array of the iittala home furnishings and Marimekko textiles that the store popularized. Didriks is proud to be the featured, full-line iittala retail store associated with the event.
Organized here by the work of the featured iittala designers, you can shop for the iitala items displayed in the current Design Research exhibition.
Founded by Ben Thompson, an original member of Walter Gropius’s The Architects Collaborative, and growing to a group of ten stores in major American cities, Design Research was perhaps the most important home furnishings store of the second half of the 20th century. Design Research was one of the first importers of modern Scandinavian design in home furnishings. |
