During Winter 2009-2010 a unique exhibit at 48 Brattle St. in Cambridge MA recalled the iconic modern home furnishings store, Design Research. Located at the site of the original Design Research flagship store in Harvard Square, the exhibit featured a broad array of the iittala home furnishings and Marimekko textiles that DR popularized. Didriks was proud to be named by iittala as the full-line iittala brand ambassador retailer associated with the event.

Founded by Ben Thompson, an original member of Walter Gropius’s The Architects Collaborative, and growing to a group of ten stores in major American cities, Design Research was perhaps the most important home furnishings store of the second half of the 20th century. Design Research was one of the first importers of modern Scandinavian design in home furnishings. |
