Finnish design pioneer Oiva Toikka was searching for a way to hide joint marks in glass when he invented the groundbreaking Kastehelmi design. Inspired by nature, Kastehelmi (Finnish for “dewdrop”) features rings of raised glass droplets that resemble strings of dewdrops glistening under the morning sun. Kastehelmi plays with light, bringing out the true reflective beauty of the glass. Iittala’s beloved Kastehelmi collection offers a wide range of versatile pieces that are both functional and decorative. The small Kastehelmi plate is ideal for serving light bites like hors d’oeuvres, tapas and side salads.
