David Mellor’s Hoffmann is a design of immense elegance and quality with conscious overtones of early 20th century Arts and Crafts metalwork design, drawing on his admiration for the British designers C.R. Ashbee and Charles Rennie Mackintosh as well as the Viennese architect and designer Josef Hoffmann.
Designed in 1985, Mellor’s Hoffmann cutlery employs advanced techniques of hot forging to achieve subtle gradations in shaping of the slender square handles, culminating in the unique pear-drop ends.
