Spencer Peterman's spalted/ambrosia round bowls are made of maple wood featuring stunning striations, effects of the partial decay of the wood, and potentially also markings from the microscopic ambrosia beetle tunneling through the tree and the fungus that accompanies their activity. These features do not compromise the structural integrity of the wood, and all activity is neutralized in the kiln drying process. Bowls are kiln dried to 6% moisture to stabilize the wood and prevent future cracking. Treated with beeswax and mineral oil, the bowls are food safe and make a beautiful addition to any space. Ideal for serving or decorative use.
